Vaux Le Vicomte is very often compared to Versailles.

They were both built by the same team: Le Vau, Le Brun and Le Notre (respectively architect, interior designer and landscape architect).

There are equally magnificent as they were both built to show off wealth.

As a matter of fact, the owner Nicolas Fouquet was incredibly rich … much richer that the king himself (Louis XIV)
Louis became so jealous of Nicolas Fouquet’s wealth that he sent him to prison for the rest of his life.

Visitors love Vaux Le Vicomte: it is as magnificent and still far less crowded than Versailles.
