A magnificient royal residence full of content.

There are a few reasons why this great site is a good introduction to the Loire valley castles …

Firstly, because it is one of the first major site you encounter when you are coming from Paris.

Secondly, because it was the residence of 7 kings and 10 queens of France and is quite reminiscent of the Renaissance royal life.

Finally, it was the first Chateau de la Loire to be restored in 1845 and set the model for the others.
